You Could Have Heard A Pin Drop
At a time when our president and other politicians tend to apologize for our country's prior actions, here's a refresher on how some of our former patriots handled negative comments about our country.
JFK'S
Secretary of State, Dean Rusk, was in France in the early 60's when
DeGaule decided to pull out of NATO. DeGaule said he wanted all US
military out of France as soon as possible.
Rusk responded,
"Does that include those who are buried here?"
DeGaule
did not respond.
You
could have heard a pin drop.
When in England,
at a fairly large conference, Colin Powell was asked by the
Archbishop of Canterbury if our plans for Iraq were just an example of
'empire building' by George Bush.
He answered by saying,
"Over the years, the United States has sent many of
its fine young men and women into great peril to fight for freedom
beyond our borders. The only amount of land we have ever asked for
in return is enough to bury those that did not
return."
You
could have heard a pin drop.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
There was a conference in France
where a number of international engineers
were taking part, including French and American. During a break,
one of the French engineers came back into the room saying, "Have you
heard the latest dumb stunt Bush has done? He has sent an aircraft
carrier to Indonesia to help the tsunami victims. What does he
intend to do, bomb them?"
A Boeing engineer
stood up and replied quietly: "Our carriers have three
hospitals on board that can treat several hundred people; they are
nuclear powered and can supply emergency electrical power to
shore facilities; they have three cafeterias with the capacity to
feed 3,000 people three meals a day, they can produce several thousand
gallons of fresh water from sea water each day, and they carry half a
dozen helicopters for use in transporting victims and injured to and
from their flight deck. We have eleven such ships;
how many does France have?"
You
could have heard a pin drop.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
A U.S. Navy Admiral
was attending a naval conference that included
Admirals from the U.S., English, Canadian, Australian and French
Navies At a cocktail reception, he found himself standing with a large
group of officers that included personnel from most of those countries.
Everyone was chatting away in English as they sipped their drinks but a
French admiral suddenly complained that, whereas Europeans learn many
languages, Americans learn only English. He then asked, "Why is it that
we always have to speak English in these conferences rather than
speaking French?"
Without hesitating,
the American Admiral replied, "Maybe it's because the
Brit's, Canadians, Aussie's and Americans arranged it so you wouldn't
have to speak German."
You
could have heard a pin drop.

AND
THIS STORY FITS RIGHT IN WITH THE ABOVE...
Robert Whiting,
an elderly gentleman of 83, arrived in Paris by plane.
At French Customs, he took a few minutes to locate his passport
in his carry on.
"You
have been to France before, monsieur?" the customs officer asked
sarcastically.
Mr. Whiting
admitted that he had been to France
previously.
"Then
you should know enough to have your passport ready."
The American said,
"The last time I was here, I didn't have to show it."
"Impossible.
Americans always have to show their passports on arrival in France!"
The American senior
gave the Frenchman a long hard look. Then he
quietly explained, ''Well, when I came ashore at Omaha Beach on D-Day in
1944 to help liberate this country, I couldn't find a single Frenchmen
to show a passport to."
You
could have heard a pin drop.

Why Is John McCain Ignoring The Employee Free Choice Act
It is shocking and amazing that John McCain continues to take hit after hit in the debates without responding to Obama's outragerous claims and policies. The pledge of tax decreases to 95% of the American population is an outright fabrication, and has been discredited widely including in a recent Wall Street Journal Article. Obama's mantra that the middle-class drives the American economy really is pathetic. Again and again for some unknown reason McCain lets these claims go without retort in the debates.
Regardless of these issues it is shocking that McCain has barely even whispered about Obama's support for the Employee Free Choice Act. The Unions have pumped about a billion dollars into the effort to get this law passed. Most people don't know that the act was already ratified by the House and is currently blockaded by the Senate and a promised veto from President Bush. If Obama wins this law is coming and American industry and clout will become a thing of the past.
Why does McCain fail to bring this up?
The Employee Free Choice Act will:
Eliminate the secret ballot in union election
Mandate binding arbitration during contract negotiations
Dramatically increase the fines for unfair labor practices for employers
Read more about this and get the word out...This is the #1 issue for the labor movement and a massive move towards the Europeanization of America -- Which is Obama's dream!!

Why Did Sen. Obama Keep Calling Him "John"?
Doesn't Senator McCain deserve a little bit of respect and deference? This was not a political discussion at the company picnic or at the annual block party. This was a Presidential Debate!
This informal rhetoric is unprecedented. Senator Kerry did not use "George" once in any of the debates in 2004. Then Governor Bush, never referred to Vice-President Gore as "AL". No "Bill's" out of the mouth of George HW Bush or "George's" from the Governor Clinton.
And no "Ron's" from President Carter of Senator Mondale...
Who does BARACK think he is? Is he trying to make-up for his weak resume -- by pretending that he is on the same level as Senator McCain?
I think this informality was a problem for Obama -- It was not Presidential.

It's Gotta Be Mitt or Huck -- Can't we broker a truce between the two camps?
However, regardless of this historical reality Senator McCain has a unique opportunity as the leader of the Republican Party to anoint an heir to the Republican throne. McCain is 72 years old! If he were to win and run a second time he would be 76 by the time the next election comes along -- Considering his age he has to look to the future with his nominee.
Many pundits and analysts have zeroed in on Governor Tim Pawlenty of Minnesota as a safe and "do-no-harm" type of pick. I predict that this will ultimately be Senator McCain's choice, as a safe non-descript and innocuous selection. Pawlenty will enthuse no one, but he will also offend very few. He is the vanilla ice-cream cone selection.
Unfortunately, the pick of Pawlenty disregards the two people who are most deserving of the selection -- Mitt Romney and Mike Huckabee. We may have forgotten this year's primary, but it was the spirited campaigns of Romney and Huckabee that allowed McCain to squeak to the nomination in state after state after state. Romney and Huckabee combined dwarfed the votes McCain received in the contested primaries. They both are excellent communicators experienced governors and have passionate supporters and population centers that they would shore up. They proved themselves competent debaters and would be capable of responding to Obama's positions and serving as the attack dog while McCain remains above the fray.
The problem is that they and their most passionate supporters are not fans of each other -- This causes rage in the blogosphere towards both men.
My proposal is simple. McCain needs to pick one of the two.
It just seems unreasonable that the two people who are most deserving, most fully-vetted and most prepared to bring with them an organized and enthusiastic base of supporters should be completely ignored.
How about it Romneybots and Hucksters?
It seems like a common sense approach. I trust McCain's judgment if he picks between the two.
How about it?

McCain The Rock Star
Over the past two weeks McCain and his team have really started to stick a spear in the side of Barack Obama. After Obama's ego-trip around the world failed to even produce a single uptick in the polls McCain has gone on the attack via two very clever internet ads and now a well-timed and very imaginative appearance at the Harley Davidson Rally in Sturgis, South Dakota.
McCain put it best, "As you may know, not long ago, a couple of hundred thousand Berliners made a lot of noise for my opponent. I'll take the roar of 50,000 Harleys any day! (cheers) Any day, my friends!"
Obama is not surviving the long hot-summer where the major candidates are vetted by the American people. McCain is even leading in some polls - despite a tremendous disadvantage in the free media advertising from the main stream media.
Is a blow-out for McCain brewing? Just think if he holds all of W's states from 2004 and picks up Michigan and New Hampshire -- That would give him an electoral win of 307-231 -- I think that exact margin may be around the corner...And if the blue collar democrats of Pennsylvania turn for McCain this thing becomes a laugher. If you are intellectually honest you will have to admit that the likelihood of McCain's wins in Michigan and New Hampshire are much more plausible than similar Obama pickups in Virginia and Ohio.
Obama's path to victory is very murky at this point...

OBAMA'S MAJOR CREDIBILITY GAP WITH THE SILENT MAJORITY
This majority referred mainly to the older generation (those World War II veterans in all parts of the United States) but it also described many young people in the Midwest, West and in the South, many of whom did eventually serve in Vietnam. The Silent Majority was mostly populated with the blue collar people who allegedly didn't have the ability or the time to take an active part in politics other than to vote. They did, in some cases, support the conservative policies of many politicians. Others were not particularly conservative politically, but resented what they saw as disrespect for American institutions.
Since Nixon, many conservatives have pointed to the silent majority as a force still ignored by the media, who, in the eyes of conservatives, focus generally on sensational activities of both parties to boost the media's own viewer ratings.

OBAMA IS A MEGALOMANIAC
Megalomania is an unrealistic belief in one's superiority, grandiose abilities, and even omnipotence. It is characterized by a need for total power and control over others, and is marked by a lack of empathy for anything that is perceived as not feeding the self.
Although megalomania is a term often ascribed to anyone who is power-hungry, the clinical definition is that of a mental illness associated with narcissistic personality disorder (NPD).
Narcissism is most simply defined as self-love. Though it is considered healthy to care about your own well-being and have a healthy self-esteem, when someone loves himself to the exclusion of all else and others become objectified to be used only to serve the self, this is no longer considered healthy or normal.
There are different psychological theories about how and why NPD develops, most of which relate to the integration of different aspects of ego and self as a child, and the nature of the parental roles in that process. Regardless of theory, NPD is characterized by extremely low self-esteem, which is compensated for by delusions of grandeur and megalomania, a narcissistic neuroses. With the propensity to act only on behalf of one's self, the unbridled need to feed one's ego, and the objectification of others to serve the power-hungry needs of megalomania, it is easy to see how this can be a recipe for disaster, especially when wrapped in a charismatic personality.
One of the most well known examples of megalomania in modern history was Adolf Hitler. A street waif, Hitler wasn't content rising through the ranks to become the military leader of Germany. His megalomania drove him to aspire to conquer the entire world. Being born into a "superior race" also wasn't enough for the mentally ill Hitler. Instead, he wanted to wipe out all other races. This need to destroy everything outside of what he perceived as an extension of himself is a classic though horrifically illustrated example of megalomania. Paradoxically, a person who exhibits such tremendous ego and self-confidence in reality has such low self-esteem and such a fragile ego that he cannot abide any expression other than his own, for fear of annihilation of the self. Therefore everything that is not under his control is perceived as a threat.
While genocide is an extreme example, serial killers may also suffer from megalomania. They objectify, then sacrifice their victims to exercise total control with a complete lack of empathy for the suffering of others.
The principles or characteristics of NPD and megalomania can also be expressed in lesser degrees or in a different fashion by those we might consider more mainstream than genocidal maniacs and serial killers. Among dictators, fundamentalists, and politicians we find those who view themselves as morally superior with the willingness to sacrifice, kill, or risk the safety of others considered inferior in order to assert their own agendas. Though there are legitimate circumstances in which leaders must exercise civil or military force, or religious zealots can profess solemn beliefs, the line between religiosity and fanaticism, between duty and megalomania, can be a gray one. This is how the term has become part of our culture's vernacular.
Megalomania is also sometimes associated with bipolar disorder; a depressive illness that is characterized by mood swings from extreme lows to extreme highs. During the latter cycle, people often suffer delusions of grandeur and feelings of infinite capability. They talk about unrealistic plans and goals as if these plans and goals are within their grasp.
Schizophrenia, a mental illness characterized by delusions, hallucinations and extreme paranoia, is also often found alongside megalomania.
NPD, megalomania, bipolar disorder, and schizophrenia can all be treated with medications. If you or someone you know is experiencing manic moods, unrealistic delusions or antisocial behavior, professional treatment is necessary. Unlike a virus or cold, these disorders will not improve without treatment.

Blogosphere Chatter Is Negative About Romney
Personally, I like Mitt. Regardless of his political missteps over the course of his career, he is undeniably bright, energetic and a proven leader. I like the idea of having someone who is financially liberated helping to lead the country. That leaves him beholden to no one. For some reason Mitt strikes a negative chord with many people. For this reason alone I think he gets passed by. McCain will probably pick Pawlenty -- much less intellectual horsepower for much less negative hype.
Take a read for yourself of the consistent negative messaging against Romney. It is pretty astonishing.

"I DON'T BELIEVE IN GAY ADOPTION" -- JOHN MCCAIN
I still can't believe the pass the Democratic candidates were given during the debates with their response to a question about reading a homosexual storybook to second graders. They all believe that it is 100% okay. Senator Obama even goes on to say that refusing to allow such a book to be read in second grade classrooms (these are 7 and 8 year olds) is equivalent to "fanning flames of division" that are dividing our country.
These responses are out of touch with the mainstream of America.
Read for yourself below:
Excerpts from Democratic Primary Debate, Dartmouth, New Hampshire, 09/26/07
RUSSERT: I'd like to go to Allison King of New England CableNews again for another question.Allison?
KING: Thanks, Tim.The issues surrounding gay rights have been hotly debated here in New England. For example, last year some parents of second-graders inLexington, Massachusetts, were outraged to learn their children'steacher had read a story about same-sex marriage, about a prince whomarries another prince.Same-sex marriage is legal in Massachusetts but most of youoppose it. Would you be comfortable having this story read to yourchildren as part of their school curriculum? I'm going to start with Senator Edwards.
EDWARDS: Yes, absolutely. What I want is I want my children to understand everything about the difficulties that gay and lesbian couples are faced with everyday, the discrimination that they're faced with every single day of their lives.
EDWARDS: And I suspect my two younger children, Emma Claire,who's 9, and Jack, who's 7, will reach the same conclusion that mydaughter Cate, who's 25, has reached, which is she doesn't understandwhy her dad is not in favor of same-sex marriage. And she says hergeneration will be the generation that brings about the great change in America on that issue.So I don't want to make that decision on behalf of my children.I want my children to be able to make that decision on behalf ofthemselves, and I want them to be exposed to all the information, evenin -- did you say second grade? Second grade might be a little tough,but even in second grade to be exposed to all...
KING: Well, that's the point. It is second grade.
EDWARDS: ... those possibilities, because I don't want to imposemy view. Nobody made me God. I don't get to decide on behalf of myfamily or my children, as my wife Elizabeth has spoken her own mind onthis issue. I don't get to impose on them what it is that I believeis right.
EDWARDS: But what I will do as president of the United States is I will lead an effort to make sure that the same benefits that areavailable to heterosexual couples -- 1,100 roughly benefits in thefederal government -- are available to same-sex couples; that we getrid of DOMA, the Defense of Marriage Act; that we get rid of "don'task/don't tell," which is wrong today and was wrong when it wasenacted back in the 1990s.I will be the president that leads a serious effort to deal withthe discrimination that exists today.
KING: Thank you. Senator Obama, you have young children at home. How do you feelabout this?
OBAMA: You know, I feel very similar to John. You know, thefact is my 9-year-old and my 6-year-old I think are already aware thatthere are same-sex couples. My wife and I have talked about it. Oneof the things I want to communicate to my children is not to be afraid of people who are different, because there have been times in our history where I was considered different, or Bill Richardson was considered different.
OBAMA: And one of the things I think the next president has to do is to stop fanning people's fears. If we spend all our time feeding the American people fear and conflict and division, then they become fearful and conflicted and divided. And if we feed them hope and we feed them reason and tolerance,then they will become tolerant and reasonable and hopeful. And that I think is one of the most important things that thenext president can do, is try to bring us together, and stop trying to fan the flames of division that have become so standard in our politics in Washington. That's the kind of experience, by the way,that we need to put an end to.
KING: Quickly, have you sat down with your daughters to talk about same-sex marriage?
OBAMA: My wife has.
KING: She has. OK. I'd like to ask Senator Clinton the same question.
CLINTON: Well, I really respect what both John and Barack said.
CLINTON: I think that we've seen differences used for divisive purposes, for political purposes in the last several elections. And Ithink every one of us on this stage are really personally opposed tothat and we'll do everything we can to prevent it.With respect to your individual children, that is such a mater of parental discretion, I think that obviously it is better to try towork with your children, to help your children understand the many differences that are in the world and to really respect other peopleand the choices that other people make. And that goes far beyond sexual orientation. So I think that this issue of gays and lesbians and their rights will remain an important one in our country. And I hope that --tomorrow we're going to vote on the hate crimes bill, and I'm sure that those of us in the Senate will be there to vote for it.
CLINTON: We haven't been able to get it passed, and it is an important measure to send a message that we stand against hatred anddivisiveness. And I think that, you know, that's what the Democratic Party stands for in contrast, all too often, to the other side.
KING: Thank you, Senator.Tim, back to you.
RUSSERT: Thank you, Allison.

OBAMA IS NO JFK
Obama's Pipe Dream -- He Thinks He's JFK
The hubris and arrogance of Obama and his team are going to rally the American people behind McCain. Hillary only conceded a month ago and Obama's campaign is in a tailspin.
Video of JFK's 1960 Democratic Acceptance Speech
Text of 1960 Democratic National Convention Acceptance Speech
A Republican Convert to PUMA-ism
When the campaigns started last year I fell into the trap like many Republicans of thinking that we should do everything in our power to stop Hillary. I confess that I was persuaded over the last several years by the conservative talking heads that Hillary would be the worst thing for the country. I am somewhat of a moralist and I never really forgave her husband for his adultery while in office. Not only did he cheat, but he lied about it under oath! I thought it was a disgrace to an office held by greater men and patriots. Unfortunately, I let that incident bleed over into my impressions of of Hillary.
But, then a remarkable thing happened. As I followed the election coverage and actually listened to candidates on both sides, I realized that Hillary Clinton is really an amazing politician -- tough, opinionated, strong and well-versed on policy. She does not capitulate or pander. She has her positions which are well thought out and she articulates them convincingly. She is a great candidate. I may disagree politically, but I have to admit I respect her and admire her for her accomplishments.
I thought McCain v. Clinton would have been a great dialogue and debate for the American people. It would have been a true race with two tested and ready politicians who care deeply about this nation. Unfortunately, a certain segment of the Democratic party led by John Kerry and Howard Dean decided that their ego's and need for power were greater than the needs of our country. These Democrats saw Obama as the perfect puppet from which to pull the strings and to give them power. They propped him up, altered the rules and he won the nomination. When you look back and realize he won almost every caucus, you realize his victory was hollow and not a true representation of the will of the people. On top of that the debacle in Florida and Michigan was an utter shame. As a Republican, I watched that play out and I thought, "They are not really going to ignore two of the most important states in the union." But, Howard Dean and his crew found a way to make a mockery of the whole process and alienate the party members in two states. In Michigan they actually allocated delegates to a candidate who was not on the ballot (OBAMA) and did this allocation based on exit polls!! Regardless of your political party, as an American, this has to get you fired up and passionate about the destruction and manipulation of the system.
On that note over the past several weeks I have taken great interest in the PUMA movement within the Democratic party. I think this movement is vital for our democracy and I am outraged that it is being ignored by the main stream media. Their bias towards Obama is obfuscating the true political story that is in the works. I believe that the PUMA's should go to Denver and make a stand for the real candidate from the Democratic side -- Senator Clinton.
Please, PUMA's keep up the enthusiasm, their are many Republicans out there who are sympathetic to your cause. You may think this is because we want to see infighting within your party, but as for me that is simply not the case. I would rather see Hillary come out of Denver and win in a free and fair election, than have Obama anywhere near the Oval Office.
Keep fighting and please vote for this article on Real Clear Politics if you agree. It is a strong way to start getting the message heard. If we unite and keep fighting the media will have to start addressing the circumstances and then we can rally the masses to the cause!! Keep up the good work.

A great analysis of the drama at the Democratic Convention was detailed in today's Wall Street Journal. The article is a must read to understand the quagmire and mess caused by Clinton's massive delegate haul. The main stream press seems to already have forgotten, but the Obama The Great won the nomination by the skin of his teeth! My prediction is that Obama will capitulate on all fronts to save the embarassment of a roll call vote. Obama should realize that the Clinton's will seek their own fortune above all other interests, and should not put it past them to sabotage the convention by making Hillary the issue. They still foresee one more good shot for her in 2012.
When history looks back on the election of 2008 it will always deserve special attention. With Vice-President Cheney's commitment to not seek the Presidency the 2008 election became a wide-open race within both parties. On the Democratic side, Senator Hillary R. Clinton of New York appeared to have the inside track to the nomination, but she was upended by a quixotic rookie Senator from Illinois. Many causes can be attributed to her loss, but seven magnificent endorsements received by Obama early in the campaign tipped the momentum in his favor and he never looked back.
All of these endorsements were received before March 1, 2008 (this signals that these individuals were not simply opportunists jumping on the Obama bandwagon. Many of them endorsed Obama before the primaries began).
5 North Eastern Senators
Senator Patrick Leahy - Vermont, Chairman Senate Judiciary Committee
Senator Jay Rockefeller - West Virginia, Chairman Senate Intelligence Committee
2 Female Governors-
Kathleen Sebelius- Kansas
Christine Gregoire - Washington
Combined, these endorsements sent a message to the nation that Hillary was out of favor with key party insiders and obviously did not have their trust or respect. Coupled with the endorsements of two female Governors, these endorsements were vital for Obama. If they had been reversed Hillary would be the nominee.

GOP PASSION
You’re a Republican???
In today’s America, ask a growing number of high school and college students; their teachers and professors; the self-anointed media elite and/or hard working men and women of all ethnicities, the question, “What is a Republican?”, and you’ll be told “… a rich, greedy, egotistical individual, motivated only by money and the desire to accumulate more and more of it, at the expense of the environment … the working poor ….and all whom they exploit…”
I am a Republican … I am none of those things… and I don’t know any Republicans who are.
WHAT I AM … first and foremost, is a loving husband of some 52 plus years, the father of four and an American who’s proud of his country… and his country’s heritage.
WHAT I AM … is the grandson of immigrants who risked everything, including their lives and those of their children, to escape tyranny in search of freedom.
WHAT I AM … is a man who grew up during the Depression and witnessed, first hand, the effects of the Stock Market crash and the soup lines that followed. I watched as both my parents and grand parents, who had very little themselves, share what food they had with a half dozen other families, who had even less.
WHAT I AM … is someone who worked his way through college by holding down three and four jobs at a time and then used that education to build a better life.
WHAT I AM … is a husband who, at age 24, started his own business for the “privilege” of working 60, 70 and 80 hours a week, risking everything I had, including my health, in search of a better life for myself and my loved ones.
WHAT I AM … is a businessman whose blood, sweat and tears…. and plenty of them…, made it possible for me to provide a secure living, not only for my family and myself, but also for literally hundreds of my employees throughout the years. Employees, who in turn, were able to buy their own homes, raise their own families and give back to their communities and their country.
WHAT I AM … is a man who believes in God; a God who has blessed this country… and all for which it stands.
WHAT I AM … is someone who knows, if you doubt miracles exist in today’s world, you need only to look into the face of those who received them … and the eyes of those who give them.
WHAT I AM … is an American who’s proud that his President embraces a belief in God; proud of a President who understands, as “politically incorrect” as it may be, there is evil in this world and for the security and safety of all freedom loving people everywhere, it must be confronted… and it must be defeated.
WHAT I AM … is an American who takes comfort in the knowledge that our President refuses to allow decisions concerning the very safety and security of this nation, to be governed by the political whims of foreign governments.
WHAT I AM … is tired of hearing from leading Democrats who see only negativity in America; racism in her people; class warfare in her society and “political incorrectness” in her character.
WHAT I AM … is a former democrat who now understands that it is the soldier and not the reporter that guarantees us our freedoms of press, speech and dissent.
WHAT I AM … is a man who believes in the sanctity of life. A man who is repulsed by the pandering of the political left for votes, at the expense of the unborn.
WHAT I AM … is a husband and father who believes in the sanctity of marriage and the preservation of the family unit.
WHAT I AM … is a movie go-er who is repulsed by those insecure, socially inept, elementary thinking, ego-inflated “entertainers” who have appointed themselves “experts” in the fields of national security and geo-politics and then use their forum to attack this nation, its leaders and its actions…. much to the delight and encouragement of our enemies.
WHAT I AM … is an American who understands the difference between “censorship” and “choice”. Evidently, these individuals do not, because when these same “celebrities” receive public ridicule for their offensive actions, the first thing they yell is “Censorship!”. What they seem incapable of understanding is… the right of free speech and dissent is shared equally by those offended… as well as those who offend. I support and will continue to support those films and performers whom I choose to … and refuse to support those I don’t. It is my right as an American … a right I will continue to enthusiastically exercise.
WHAT I AM … is a voter, tired of politicians, who, every time their voting records are subjected to public scrutiny, try to divert attention from their political and legislative failures by accusing their opponents of “attack ads” and “negative campaigning”…. and the news media who allow them to get away with it. WHAT I AM … is a Catholic who loves his God and his Faith… and who’s been taught to respect all religions whose teachings are based in love, peace and charity. As such, I am embarrassed and ashamed of those individuals, in both private and public life, whose decisions and actions are devoid of any sense of character or morals; individuals who are only driven by what’s best for them … rather than what’s right … often times at the expense of many …. including our national security.
WHAT I AM … is a realist who understands that the terrorist attack that murdered hundreds of innocent Russian children could have occurred here, in our heartland. That’s why I sincerely believe America needs now, more than ever, a President who sees with a clear and focused vision and who speaks with a voice when heard by both friend and foe alike, is understood, respected and believed.
WHAT I AM … is eternally grateful to Ronald Reagan for having the bravery to speak out against Communism and the courage of his convictions in leading the fight to defeat it; and George W. Bush for the vision, courage, conviction and leadership he has shown in America’s war on terrorism amidst both the constant and vicious, personal and political attacks both he and his family are made to endure.
WHAT I AM … is a human being, full of numerous faults and failures, but a man nonetheless, who, though not always successful, has continually strived to do “what’s right” instead of “what’s easy”. A man who is challenging the religious leaders of all faiths, to not only preach to their congregations the fundamentals of “what’s right” and “what’s wrong”, but to also then hold them accountable for their actions in both the public and private sectors.
WHAT I AM … is disgusted with the Courts who, on one hand, call the murder of a pregnant woman a “double homicide” but then refer to the abortion of her baby as, “pro-choice”.
WHAT I AM … is someone deeply troubled by a political party which embraces a candidate whose primary “leadership” qualities center around his protesting of the Vietnam war and his labeling the honorable men and women who fought in it, (50,000 of whom gave their lives in that action), as rapists, and war criminals. That same political party then stepped forward this year to block the appearance of a true Vietnam war hero, retired Admiral and former United States Senator, Jeremiah Denton, (a man who spent seven years and seven torturous months in a North Vietnam prison), from speaking before an open session of the California legislature as part of that state’s 4th of July celebration. The reason Democrats gave for refusing to allow this American hero to speak before their state legislature was because of the “conservative” nature of his views. As an American, that troubles me deeply ….as well it should you.
WHAT I AM … is a man who feels the need to spend, $104, 655.60,(tax paid) of his own money, to purchase this advertisement, in order to set the story straight. Some may say this money would have been better spent feeding the world’s poor. At the risk of sounding self-serving, as an American and as a Republican, for the last six decades of my life, I have done exactly that… and more. Following the examples of my parents and grand parents, I have used my earnings to feed the poor, shelter the homeless, provide housing for the elderly and medical care for the sick….. and continue to do so… and I’m not alone in that work.
WHAT I AM … is someone who is paying for this announcement, at my sole expense, in hopes of opening the eyes of those led blindly by ill-informed elements of our great nation, who, through either ignorance, or malicious intent, repeatedly attack and belittle those of us who belong to a political party that holds true to the belief, “… the rights of the governed, exceed the power of the government”. For those interested, I am speaking only as a tax-paying individual who is in no way associated with The Republican National Committee, nor with any of its directors, or delegates.
WHAT I AM … is a man who understands, “the American way of life” is a message of self-empowerment for all.
WHAT I AM … is an American who is grateful that our nation gives each of us the opportunity of self-determination and the right to benefit from the fruits of self achievement.
WHAT I AM … is an American who wants to preserve that way of life for all who seek it.
WHAT I AM … is blessed to be an American…. and proud to be Republican.

Newt's Big Idea -- A Common Sense Solution To The Energy Crisis
Please watch this, I don't think anyone has a clearer idea on how to get us out of this energy disaster and the fact that we are forecast to spend $700 Billion on imported oil this year.. According to Fortune, China is building 21 nuclear power plants and India 6 and the rest of the world 9, and the Us none.Over 300 more are in the planning or proposal stage including the US. France gets 78% of its power from Nuclear, Belgium 54%, and Sweden 48%. The US gets 19% of its power from Nuclear and that is after a 30 year hiatus on new plant construction in the US. Think how different things would be if we had been building plants like the others and how much cleaner our environment would be. Why does congress refuse to act?

McCain's Cabinet -- A Marketing Strategy
One idea that would electrify his party and garner tremendous media exposure would be for McCain to announce his Vice-Presidential nominee and Cabinet to the American public. McCain's ability to convince high-profile Republicans to serve with him would bring tremendous energy and credibility to his campaign.
Imagine if a few days before the Democratic National convention if McCain would call a press conference surrounded at the podium by Mitt Romney, Fred Thompson, Mike Huckabee, Arnold Schwarznegger, Rudy Giuliani, Elizabeth Dole, Kay Bailey Hutchison, Kenneth Blackwell, Norman Schwarzkoph, John Thune, Lisa Murkowski, Louis Freeh, Phil Gramm, Robert Gates, Carly Fiorina and other members of his campaign team and national Republican leaders.
During the press conference McCain could give a rousing speech presenting his Vice-Presidential nominee and his Cabinet to the American people. It would be a historic an electrifying moment that would bring the energy and purpose back to the GOP.
Here is a list of the recommended team...
Vice-President
Mitt Romney
A proven executive and leader in the public and private sector. Fully-vetted and able to deliver Michigan and buttress McCain's support in the west. A tremendous fundraiser and friend to the Republican base. This is going to happen.
Secretary of Health and Human Services
Elizabeth Dole
The former head of the American Red Cross and Senator from North Carolina would be adept at increasing efficiencies in this sprawling bureacracy.
Secretary of Transportation
Mike Huckabee
Who can forget his enthusiasm for rebuilding highway I-95 during the debates. Great communicator, leader and visionary.
Fred Thompson
In a world of turmoil and increasing diplomatic complications a steady hand is needed to assure our interests our protected throughout the world. He would be a great face for America throughout the world. A realist who would not underestimate our potential enemies.
Secretary of Veteran Affairs
Ret. General Norman Schwarzkoph
General Schwarzkoph is an American hero and a proven leader of our armed forces. Few people could bring as much credibility and trust to this role.
Department of the Interior
Lisa Murkowski
The Republican Senator from Alaska would be an excellent steward of our land and national parks.
Department of Defense
Robert Gates
He has brought tremendous dignity and administrative competence to the role. He should be retained.
Treasury Secretary
Phil Gramm
A free-market advocate and long-time friend and supporter of McCain would be an excellent choice for the Treasury department.
Secretary of Education
Michael Steele is smart, articulate and is an experienced leader and educator. He would be a perfect fit for the department and could hopefully make some alterations to No Child Left Behind so that some of the teachers, parents and students of America would actually support the bill.
Commerce Secretary
Arnold Schwarznegger
If anyone can bring some new energy and enthusiasm into the Commerce department it is the "Governator". If the Presidential succession line ever reached him he would be passed over, but he would be tremendous on the campaign trial and is the perfect antidote to rock star Barack Obama.
Secretary of Labor
Kay Bailey Hutchison
The Labor department led by Elaine Chao is the only cabinet position that has not turned over during the Bush White House. Hutchison is a competent and well-liked Senator who could quickly pickup where Chao left off.
Energy Secretary
Carly Fiorina
At first glance this one could seem like a stretch, but Fiorina would be a great fit. She is a flashy and dynamic leader and would be able to sweep away the cobwebs from a department and policy that is not serving the interests of the American people. Fiorina will shake it up, and if anyone can lead McCain's nuclear power initiative it would be a marketing genius like Fiorina.
Department of Agriculture
John Thune
Thune is a rising star in the party and this pick would give him much needed national exposure and also place a very talented leader at the head of the Department.
Department of Housing and Urban Development
Kenneth Blackwell
Blackwell has already served in the department during his career and his background and previous experience would make him a good match for the position.
Department of Justice
Louis Freeh
Freeh is a patriot and his background as a U.S. Attorney, Federal Judge and FBI Director would bring much needed credibility and respect to the position.
Department of Homeland Security
Rudy Giuliani
His record and experience speak for themselves. He is the best suited candidate for the position. He is also a Patriot and distinguished public servant.
